Job Summary: Repairs?and maintains electrical systems, motor control centers, panel boards, and other electrical and mechanical equipment. Must be capable of assisting with other engineering trades such as mechanical and maintenance technicians. Responsible for performing both unscheduled and preventive maintenance related electrical repairs to include lighting systems, motor control centers, variable speed drives, nurse call, and other electrical equipment comprising the hospital's electrical utility system. Responsible for assisting other trades within the department with repairs to include air handling units, pump replacements, exhaust fan and other mechanically related systems comprising the hospital's mechanical utility system. Responds to emergency calls and assists qualified technicians and other trained professionals on medical gas and vacuum leaks, power outages, HVAC, plumbing, fire response, etc. Must demonstrate proficiency in all electrically related tasks in order to participate in the call-back program. Maintains assigned equipment in a safe and orderly manner and responds to emergency calls. Responsible for completing work orders in complete and timely manner to include all housekeeping duties when work is complete. Must be capable of installing conduit, panel boards, and other electrical equipment in support of facility renovations or new construction activities. Responsible for testing backup generator system in accordance with NFPA 110 and JCAHO standards. Must be proficient in automatic transfer switch technology and the maintenance of both transfer switches and generators. Ensures work is performed with the utmost awareness for safety and hygiene. Also, ensures proper Lock-out Tag-out procedures are being followed. Responsible for troubleshooting and making repairs to variable speed drives and other building control systems within the hospital. Must be proficient with troubleshooting with an insulation resistance tester, multi-meter (voltmeter, current meter, and resistance meter), and other electrical test and measurement instruments. Assist with maintaining electrical related drawings to ensure drawings are up to date and changes are permanently documented. Ensure electrical equipment is properly labeled and changes to labeling is completed when necessary.

Requirements: Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred Experience: 3-5 years minimum Number and Type of Employees Supervised: No supervision is required Licensure, Registry or Certification Preferred: Master Electrician or Journeyman license preferred. Valid driver's license, an acceptable three-year motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart, and a certificate of auto insurance. Must pass driver training within 6 months of hire. Special Training: Two years of Technical College or four years in commercial/industrial construction field. Two years with Emergency Power systems preferred. EEO/AA
