Job Description:
MU Health Care is seeking a dynamic Perfusionist to join our
Surgery Services team in the only Level 1 trauma center in central
Missouri.
Salary Range: $133,245.00 - $198,290.00

Job Summary:
- Perform skilled technical work involving the assembly and
operation of pump oxygenator and/or perfusion systems.
Detailed Description:
- Operate heart-lung machine during open cardiac surgery.
- Function as a member of the perfusion team in clinical
open-heart situations.
- Conduct analysis of blood gases during clinical open-heart
procedures.
- Maintain intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation equipment, cell
saver devices, and left and right cardiac assist devices.
- Assist in the training of perfusionist trainees and medical
students in the maintenance and operation of heart-lung machines
and related equipment.
- Utilize laboratory, anesthesiology, respiratory therapy, and
intensive care procedures for research animals as directed.
- Provide 24-hour emergency and on-call support for heart-lung
and patient support situations.
- May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations
as outlined in department documents.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to operate complex electromechanical devices associated
with the perfusion area.
- Ability to make accurate decisions and maintain control during
periods of high stress.
- Physical Demands:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those
that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The
performance of these physical demands is an essential function of
the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating,
reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.
- This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who
may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care
facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts, as
well as holidays and work during inclement weather, will be
required.
Qualifications
- Perfusionist or Provisional Perfusionist licensure by the MO
Board of Healing Arts.
- Certification in Clinical Perfusion (CCP) by the American Board
of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) within two (2) years as a
condition of continued employment in this job classification.
