Job Description:

NIC, the leading provider of eGovernment services, is seeking a dynamic individual to join our South Carolina Interactive team as Business Development Associate with a passion for helping our government partners interact with citizens and businesses through efficient and effective digital technology services. The Business Development Associate is responsible for defining and executing a strategic plan for developing and executing new partner relationships and services for the portal, as well as maintaining existing partner relationships. This position expected to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of our offerings and services, financial drivers and imperatives, and develop and maintain relationships that benefit our partners and company alike. The Business Development Associate attends trade associations, conventions and meetings to promote the company.You must be an excellent team player with unquestionable integrity, credibility and character and have a desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a small, focused team. The Business Development Associate works with the Project Management team and the Director of Marketing and Portal Operations and reports to the General Manager.Requirements:An undergraduate degreeMinimum of 3 years' professional experience, preferably in government or technologyIn depth experience and knowledge in managing customer portfolioPrevious experience in conceptualizing, planning, and selling new solutions or servicesExperience selling in competitive markets and assessing/selling digital technology solutionsA demonstrable track record of successful capture and salesStrong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write, edit, and proofreadNo trouble giving compelling presentations to audiences of all sizes and typesAn ability to approach prospective customers or clients-in person, by telephone, by email or through making a connection on social mediaAn ability to perform research related to city, county and State business opportunities to keep the internal team informed of relevant information through reports, memos and presentationsA strong interest and understanding of government processes, preferably based on hands-on experienceSelf-motivatedAttentive to detail and committed to qualityStrong leadership, problem solving, and decision making abilitiesAnd a passion to help government continuously improve the electronic services available to citizens and businessesResponsibilities:Facilitate the entire sales cycle including cold calling, coordinating meetings, providing presentations, demonstrations, solution selling, and contract negotiationsMaintain, track, report up to date information in a CRMCommunicate strategically with potential customers in order to identify requirements and propose how our solutions will meet their business needsPresent and evangelize solution offerings and capabilities to prospective government partnersUnderstand and stay current with technology trends and new solutions in the marketUtilize superior oral and written communication skills to develop new business opportunitiesTrack opportunities and respond to RFP opportunities at all levels of government (City, County, State, Municipality)Participate and engage directly in market-facing activities (e.g., trade associations, boards, conferences, and other client-facing activities)Assume a leadership role and accountability for potential deals including full capture, stakeholder outreach, and presentation and participating in material creation including sales collateral specific to focused solution areasAchieve pipeline sales and business development efficiency resultsProvide weekly, monthly, and annual business development reports to managementDevelop an in-depth expertise of SCI's and NIC's solutions, value, and pricing modelsWork with Marketing to team to produce marketing materials for prospectsFoster relationships at all levels of governmentThe above job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and standards of the position.
