A fiber selector (also called "Allocator") is responsible to complete the first step of the production process by using SAP applications to group items and determine the best fiber to use for orders. The position selects, pulls, stages, labels and delivers fiber to the UV, Ribbon and LT Buffering production departments.

Primary Duties:

Select fiber for production orders: Follow production backlog and priorities; Use SAP to choose appropriate fiber spools; Group orders to maximize production efficiency resulting in minimal matching loss and returns; Manage and utilize short inventory of ribbons and tubes; Use robot to pull selected fiber & manually pull ribbons/tubes; Provide all required paperwork for production operator; Push cart of fiber to appropriate area. Work in QN system when processing remake fibers, ribbons and tubes.

Other miscellaneous duties: Perform SAP transactions to manage fiber and ribbon/tube inventory; Assist Operations to investigate fiber history and requirements; Stage, rearrange, remove and prep fiber in boxes/totes and on carts; Operate robot for storage of spools; Perform minor troubleshooting of robot operation with maintenance as needed; Perform SAP transactions as related to fiber inventory functions; Offload incoming fiber trucks with forklift; Maintain and organize fiber packaging materials. Process fiber returns. Other departmental tasks as assigned.

Expectations:

Show initiative to efficiently use fiber to reduce scrap while also meeting demanding production needs.

Flexible with schedule to come in early/stay late as needed due to a limited number of people in the role. Strong teamwork orientation to successfully work with coworkers to accomplish department/production goals.

Ability to understand fiber template requirements and impact of fiber selection on production efficiency.

Specific Skills/Training Required/ Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent; Computer skills with the ability to work in Excel, email and SAP;

1 or more years' experience in Operations at Prysmian or an equivalent Planning/Scheduling position elsewhere.

Safety Requirements/Physical Requirements:

Safety shoes and glasses required when working in the production areas.

Able to stoop/stretch while holding fiber spool weighing up to 10 pounds

Able to push a fully loaded cart of fiber to production areas.

Ability to lift and carry a fully loaded box/tote of fiber.
