Shift: Various Shifts

Location: University Hospital & Women's Hospital

Department: Various Clusters such as ICU and MED SURG Clusters - clusters determined in interview based on departmental need and applicant experience

Salary: $33.75/hour base plus differentials

Job Summary:

These positions are part of a internal flex pool (NOW program) designed to provide professional nursing care in areas of RNs experience/expertise on a PRN basis.

Detailed Description:

Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.

Assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain promptly. Utilize an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment.

Demonstrate an understanding of medications with regards to action and side effects. Reports pertinent information to appropriate individual. Educates patients and significant others about their medications.

Demonstrate the ability to evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.

Maintain the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.

Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.

Report pertinent observations and reaction regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and records those observations accurately and concisely.

Provide quality care to patients and work with multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.

May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

Two (2) years of acute care RN and/or operating room RN experience
