Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years preferred License: Active Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Must-Have: Experience with patient ratios of 1:1-2 Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse to work in a cardiovascular intensive care unit. The unit specializes in the care of patients with various cardiovascular conditions. Patient population includes adults to geriatrics. Nurses typically carry 2 patients and work alongside a dedicated charge nurse. An intensivist is available in the unit Monday through Friday. Daily multidisciplinary rounds are held to facilitate effective communication among the care team. Common patient interventions include monitoring of LVADs, balloon pumps, swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, and arterial lines. Nurses are responsible for titrating cardiac medications, vasoactive drips, and sedation for intubated patients. Communication is vital as many patients require close observation and specific post-operative care. It is essential to maintain effective collaboration with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure the best patient outcomes. Days typically include a mix of direct patient care and participation in rounds and interdisciplinary support. Flexibility in scheduling and adaptability in a fast-paced environment are important.
