This night-shift registered nurse (RN) role offers a 13-week contract opportunity with flexible guaranteed hours each week (36 or 48 hours), at a well-regarded hospital recognized for advanced cardiac and trauma services. The position is based in a state-of-the-art cardiac medical intermediate unit with 32 beds and patient ratios of 1:3 to 1:4. Location: Situated in the vibrant St. Louis area, this facility is a hub for advanced medical care in South St. Louis County. Key Responsibilities: Deliver expert nursing care to patients recovering from complex cardiac surgeries and conditions such as post-op CABG/Valve repairs, thoracotomies, and respiratory failure. Implement nursing processes including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring coordinated patient care with multidisciplinary teams. Utilize specialized equipment including chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BIPAP machines. Maintain strict adherence to professional standards, patient confidentiality, and hospital protocols. Participate in orientation and demonstrate flexibility to float to similar or lower acuity units as needed. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Current RN license in Missouri or eligible for licensure. Minimum 1 year of inpatient cardiac stepdown nursing experience. BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only). NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred. Strong teamwork skills and commitment to fostering a positive clinical environment. Ability to comply with facility dress code and flu vaccination requirements. Schedule: Night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM Weekend work approximately every other weekend Additional Details: No on-call requirements. Orientation completed on day shift; full availability during orientation week necessary. Auto-offer status with flexible scheduling options. Needs to meet a Return to Office (RTO) guideline of five days or fewer.
