registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years MS Oncology RN
experience required. Applicants who do not meet these
qualifications will not be considered. Provide expert nursing care
within pediatric oncology and hematology acute care units in
Lexington, NC. This contract role serves patients with diagnoses
including leukemia, solid tumors, sickle cell crisis, diabetes,
cystic fibrosis, and behavioral health conditions. The position
requires strong pediatric assessment skills, critical thinking, and
proficiency in central line management and chemotherapy
administration. Responsibilities: Deliver compassionate pediatric
nursing care in both the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (PHO) and
Pediatric Adolescent Acute (PAA) units. Manage chemotherapy
treatments and central lines according to protocol. Conduct
thorough patient assessments and respond to critical situations.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including CNAs, charge
nurses, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and
intensivists available 24/7. Utilize EMR systems (Epic), Alaris IV
pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing. Participate in
unit-specific monitoring and adhere to family-centered care
practices. Float periodically between the Pediatric Adolescent and
PHO units and other relevant areas except Pediatric Emergency
Department. Qualifications: Active RN licensure. Minimum 1 year
experience in pediatric hematology/oncology acute care (PHO) or
pediatric acute care (PAA). Required certifications: BLS and PALS
preferred; APHON certification and chemotherapy certification
required for PHO. Strong skills in pediatric assessment, central
line care, and chemotherapy administration. Ability to work
collaboratively in a team-oriented, supportive environment.
