Registered Nurse (RN) | Oncology Location: Charlotte, NC Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,161 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: RN - Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Pediatric Oncology/Hematology; Bone Marrow Transplant experience is highly preferred License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, PALS, APHON provider card Must-Have: Port access experience is a must. Chemo administration experience is required. Blood product transfusion experience is required. Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills are necessary. Comfort with blood cultures and central line care is needed. PCA pump and Heparin gtt experience is beneficial. Description: This is a position for an RN specializing in Pediatric Oncology/Hematology. The unit has 24 beds dedicated to Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. The average daily census is around 22 patients. All RNs work interchangeably across the unit, providing care throughout the treatment process. Patient types range from neonates to adults who have received childhood cancer treatment. The unit handles solid tumor cancers, leukemia, sickle cell disease, and aplastic anemia. Nurses may care for highly acute bone marrow transplant patients, especially during critical treatment days. Behavioral health pediatric patients will also be supported on this unit, addressing various behavioral and adjustment disorders. The patient-to-RN ratio varies based on patient acuity. For Hematology/Oncology, the ratio is 1:3, and for Bone Marrow Transplant, it is 1:1-2. A certified nursing assistant will support with a ratio of 1:12. The department promotes a culture of teamwork and initiative. Support resources include a free-floating Charge RN/Supervisor, a Unit Educator, and a dedicated Task RN. Technical resources include an EMR system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems. A rounding Psych Tech is available during shifts, and various support teams such as respiratory therapy and phlebotomy are on hand to assist.
