Job Description Job Description Actively Screening for phlebotomist to join top diagnostic client in Greenwood, SC! ? Job Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, and updating patient information. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. Decontaminate and update patient information. Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection clearly and courteously. Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand all physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Ensure accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against the script. Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting Phlebotomy skills including blood draw, venipuncture, and specimen collection. Experience with pediatric and geriatric venipuncture. Excellent customer service skills. Comfortable working independently. Additional Skills & Qualifications At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience. Certification in phlebotomy is preferred. Experience in a clinic or hospital setting. High school diploma or equivalent. Work Environment The position is based at an IOP , working from 7 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. This is initially a contract role covering a leave of absence, with potential for recommendation if an opening occurs for a permanent role. The role requires drawing up to 40 to 50 patients a day. You will work with one team member until 1:30 PM EST, after which you will work independently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenwood, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $18.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
