Responsibilities for Physical Therapy Assistant Provides physical
therapy services planned, delegated, and supervised by the
qualified Physical Therapist in accordance with the patient’s Plan
of Treatment Collaborate with the Supervising Physical Therapist
regularly regarding the patient’s treatment plan, progress toward
goals, questions, and concerns. Assists with cleaning and
maintaining PT equipment, treatment, and therapy areas.
Communicates patient’s needs and progress to the Physical Therapist
and assists in securing special adaptive equipment for patient to
improve function Incorporates the use of adaptive equipment to
enhance the rehabilitation program. Maintains and submits patient
treatment and billing documentation in the format and timelines
required by the Company, facility, funding source, and local,
state, and federal regulations Participates in all team meetings,
staff development programs, and workshops Maintain continuing
education units as required by company policy and regulatory boards
Coordinate with healthcare professionals working with their clients
and refer clients to specialists when appropriate. Perform ongoing
physical therapy reassessments as allowable and according to
standards of practice for PTAs. Implement treatment plan on a
consistent schedule and adjust this schedule and plan according to
client progress. Qualifications Proven record of matching patient
needs to treatment plans and proven record of implementing these
plans safely and effectively. Experience administering a wide range
of pediatric physical therapy techniques. Knowledge of responsible
use of facility equipment, and best practices for equipment.
Experience with implementing assistive equipment to clients or home
health follow-up programs. Experience with a wide range of
pediatric injuries. A strong sense of empathy, a compassionate
outlook on PT, and the ability to motivate patients to push their
limits in a responsible, safe way. Spanish Fluency is a PLUS!
Education and Experience At least 1 year of experience providing
physical therapy to pediatric clients; however a candidate with
strong training experience will be considered. Degree in Physical
Therapy Assisting from an accredited PTA program approved by the
American Physical Therapy Association Demonstrated knowledge and
skill in pediatric therapy practice Current PTA credentials/license
for the state of operation. Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification.
