Intermediate, NRP Must-Have: - Experience circulating - Competence
in sterile vaginal exams - Competence in immediate newborn care
Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing
in labor and delivery. The unit is very fast-paced, busier, and has
higher acuity than normally expected. Nurses will care for
obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for intrapartum care, as
well as high-risk antepartum and postpartum care. The unit also
accommodates high-risk patients under 16 weeks. Responsibilities
include assisting with scheduled and unscheduled cesarean births
and rescue cervical cerclage procedures. The nurse may be required
to precept or orient new staff members as needed. Ratios are 2:1,
with approximately 20 births per 24 hours and 30-40 admissions per
day. Floating to other units may be required based on patient needs
and staff census. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend,
with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Candidates
should be comfortable in a high-volume, similar care setting.
References are preferred from within the past 12 months. Fatigue
policy prohibits working more than 5 days in a row or exceeding 60
