The shift is night, requiring 12-hour shifts. Travelers will not be accepted if they are first-time travelers. Local candidates will be accepted. The unit is fast-paced, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1. The average daily census is 24 patients in a 24-room facility. The unit cares for patients predominantly aged 18 to 65 and older adults. Patients must require cardiac telemetry monitoring to be appropriate for this unit. The primary focus includes heart failure and post-procedural care. Conditions treated in this unit include acutely decompensated heart failure, new onset heart failure, and post-cardiac and renal interventional procedures. Nurses will also manage patients pre and post procedures done in the Electrophysiology lab, including pacemaker and defibrillator procedures. The patient population may include those experiencing acute coronary syndrome, active chest pain, or requiring telemetry monitoring. Nurses will provide care for patients on insulin drips, titrate vasoactive intravenous medications, and administer medications as per policy. The role includes providing emotional support and educational resources to patients and their families. Nurses will participate in collaborative care with outpatient heart failure clinics. Patients requiring continuous monitoring will be under the nurse's supervision, ensuring a high level of care and rapid response to changing conditions. The position involves scheduling based on unit needs. A diverse range of procedures and monitoring techniques will be utilized to ensure comprehensive patient care. Candidates must be flexible to float to other units as required. The successful candidate will have a strong ability to adapt to varying patient care needs and a commitment to delivering high-quality nursing care.
