management, therapist-driven protocols Description: Respiratory
Therapist position available. The facility has 168 licensed beds.
No trauma designation. It is not a teaching hospital. Chest pain
center status is not applicable. Certified stroke center status is
not applicable. The traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles
outside of the home unit. The average patient census is 85-100
patients per day on the respiratory therapy worklist. Preferred
candidates will have prior travel experience, but first-time
travelers may be considered. Patient types include newborn to adult
care areas with complex medical conditions requiring respiratory
therapy. Exclusions for service include patients requiring PICU,
neurosurgical interventions, and cardiac surgeries. Required
certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. The following
skills are required: EPIC experience, vent management, airway
management, and therapist-driven protocols. Support within the
department includes a pulmonary navigator Monday through Friday, as
well as supervisory staff. Technology and equipment utilized
includes EMR: EPIC, Getinge Servo ventilators, Airvo 2/3,
Opti-Flow, Servo-Air, and an ABL-90 Flex blood gas machine.
Floating between facilities may be required as per regional needs
within the scope of practice. Floating mid-shift allows travelers
to be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities while
remaining on the clock. Weekend rotation will be every other
weekend with no on-call requirements. Travelers are expected to
work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up
to 6 days, excluding holidays. Additional time will be added to the
end of the contract if contracted hours cannot be met. The schedule
follows a 6-week cycle. Scrub colors are royal blue (top and
bottom) with no prints; undershirts must be white, black, or royal
blue. Only royal blue scrub material jackets can be worn in patient
care areas. Good communication and teamwork are essential
expectations within the department culture.
