ACLS preferred Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a
Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. The facility has over 900
licensed beds and holds a Level 1 trauma designation. It is a
teaching hospital and designated as both a Chest Pain Center and a
Stroke Center. The unit houses 14 beds with an average daily census
of 11 patients. This position involves the care of patients
undergoing cardiac surgery, ECMO, organ transplants, LVAD/RVAD
developments, and Impella use. Patient ratios are maintained at 1
nurse for every 2 patients. Candidates must possess a high level of
expertise in cardiac surgery and device support. Support staff in
the department includes charge nurses, receptionists, and CNA
staff. There is a resource team, including intensivists and
hospitalists available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring tech is not
available, and the unit uses various advanced technologies and
equipment. Weekend rotations and holiday scheduling expectations
apply. Schedule approvals for time off must be obtained from the
resource team. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork and proactive
care. Scrubs are navy blue in color.
