qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Charlotte, North Carolina, 28204!

years in Neuro ICU License: NC or Compact license required at start
Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Must-Have: Strong Neuro critical
care background, minimum 2 years of experience in Neuro ICU,
experience with stroke patients Description: This position is for a
Neuro ICU unit. The unit will accept first-time travelers. Local
candidates are welcome. The minimum years of experience required is
2 years in Neuro ICU. Candidates must have strong experience in
Neuro critical care, not just general ICU. Stroke patients are one
of the largest patient populations served. Skills required include:
managing ventilators, starting IVs, interpreting dysrhythmias,
managing dysrhythmias, administering blood products, caring for
central lines, providing continuous IV sedation, managing CVA and
acute stroke cases, operating external ventricular drains,
monitoring ICP, post-neurosurgery management, caring for ventilated
patients, and using isolation precautions and PPE. Experience with
lumbar drains is also necessary. The unit observes a ratio of 2:1,
which may flex to 3:1 during high census. The average daily census
is 11-12 patients. Weekend work is required every other weekend.
The unit is a comprehensive stroke center and handles a variety of
patient diagnoses. Equipment used in the unit includes EVDs, lumbar
drains, and ICP monitoring systems. Candidates must pass EKG
testing prior to starting. No RTO is allowed during the first week
of the assignment due to orientation. Traveling nurses may float
within the hospital based on patient care needs. References from
previous employers are highly preferred at the time of submission.
