Must-Have: - Circulating experience - Competency in immediate
newborn care - Ability to perform sterile vaginal exams
Description: RTO after booking is not allowed. Any call-offs or
additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in cancellation.
Minimum patient ratios are 2:1. Average of 20 births occur in 24
hours with 30-40 admissions and 40 visits per day. The unit is very
fast-paced and busier than might normally be expected. Nurses may
not realistically take 48-hour contracts due to the unit's
busyness. Strongly prefer RNs with circulating to OR experience.
The unit also accepts first-time travelers with experience in a
large, high-volume similar setting. Weekend shifts are required
every other weekend, with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week
schedule. Medical care includes obstetrical patients 16 weeks and
greater for intrapartum care and high-risk antepartum and
postpartum care. The unit provides care for high-risk patients
under 16 weeks. Scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births are
performed along with rescue cervical cerclage. An obstetrical
triage unit allows for screening patients prior to admission and
for routine outpatient procedures. Candidates may float within the
hospital or to nearby facilities as needed based on skill sets and
census. Candidate must be comfortable floating with no restrictions
or special requests. Travel pairs are allowed but must be submitted
for and work on different units. References from two managers or
supervisors within the past 12 months are highly preferred at the
time of submission. Candidates may not work more than 5 consecutive
days or exceed 60 hours in a week. Modules must be completed
pre-start and annually, with hours varying by specialty.
