Must-Have: EPIC experience Experience with Artic Sun EVDs Camino
device (ICP and temperature monitoring) Belmont Rapid Infuser
Management of critical care vasoactive drip titration Management of
invasive lines ART lines/CVP Aseptic and sterile techniques Basic
dressing changes Ventilator and trach management HOFV management
Oral/nasal suctioning G-tube/J-tube management Feeding tubes Chest
tubes Epidurals PCAs Sedation and analgesic drip management Foley
insertion and management Alaris & Medfusion pump management Bedside
procedures with providers Discharge skills CRRT experience
Ability/competency to float to Pediatric CVICU discussed during
interview Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in
the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The facility has 247 licensed
beds and is a teaching hospital with Level 1 Pediatric Trauma
Center credentials. The average patient census is between 21-23 in
a 24-bed unit. Patient types include respiratory issues, trauma,
DKA, seizures, neurosurgical cases, acute and chronic renal
failure, orthopedic cases, surgical cases, transplants, complex
medical conditions, and blood disorders. Patient ratios vary based
on acuity with typical arrangements of 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2. Support
within the department includes a Health Care Tech, Unit Secretary,
Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy, IV/VAT Team, Resource Nurse, RT,
Intensivist, in-house residents, and APPs. EMR utilized is EPIC. IV
Pumps used are Alaris and Medfusion. The unit culture emphasizes
teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and a compassionate work
ethic. Weekend rotation is required, including two Fridays, two
Saturdays, two Sundays, and two Mondays within a six-week schedule.
Holiday expectations include working 75% of holidays as per unit
requirements during the contract. RTO requests need manager
approval. Orientation includes departmental training and
introductions to unit standards and protocols. Travelers may be
floated to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, or General
