Hiring Department Division of Information Technology Job
Description The primary function of this is position is to manage
one or more simultaneous projects using formal project management
tools, templates and processes. At more senior levels, the position
may manage programs (collections of related projects) and/or
project portfolios which may be coordinated across all the
campuses, University Hospitals and Extension. Occasional travel may
be necessary.Project Initiation. Based upon internal policy and
project selection criteria, coordinate with functional and
technical resources to prepare and submit project documents to
functional director/executive sponsor and to Project Governance for
review, approval, and priority assignment. Coordinate procurements
and capital project funding estimates with the fiscal
manager.Project Planning. Based on the stated project scope and
deliverables, work with functional and technical resources to
prepare a project plan addressing scope, cost, schedule,
quality/testing, human resources, risks, communication, change
management, procurement and transition to operations. Build and
maintain an electronic workspace, and utilize the Project Portfolio
Management software and Microsoft Project to administer projects.
Prepare and submit plan check-ups for review and approval. In
conjunction with functional and technical managers, select
appropriate human resources, set resource scheduling calendars, and
coordinate task assignments. As needed, coordinate security
reviews/audits, including security review of procurement
documents.Project Execution, Monitoring, and Controlling. Utilize
internal standard operating procedures to administer projects in
Innotas, including managing resources, setting baselines, and
managing against baselines. Submit major changes to the budget,
schedule, and scope to Project Governance for approval. Monitor and
update project schedule. Review and endorse project team members'
time reports as needed; coordinate and verify time submissions with
functional manager as needed. Monitor and mitigate risks throughout
execution. Identify and manage issues throughout the project.
Monitor quality of deliverables through testing and advise
functional managers of defects. Coordinate to develop operational
support model, roles and responsibilities and life-cycle planning.
In accordance with the communication plan prepare and submit
periodic status reports. Manage communication with project team and
other stakeholders.Project Closing. Ensure all deliverables have
been realized in accordance with customer requirements and quality
standards. Prepare and submit project closure documentation for
Project Governance review and approval. Submit actual project
costs, variances to milestones and lessons learned.Additional
expectations. Manage project team meetings and document decisions,
accomplishments, and next steps. Use project management processes
to hold project teams accountable for deliverables, schedule,
scope, budget and quality. Throughout a project, coordinate with
Division of IT Leadership to utilize approved tools, templates, and
processes. The successful candidate will be able to interact with
resources and stakeholders at all levels, build strong teams, and
display excellent verbal and written communication
skills.Certification. Maintain existing PMP credential, or earn a
Project Management Professional credential, preferably within 6
months, to be determined based on project assignments. Once earned,
maintain PMP credential by actively seeking training and earning
Professional Development Units (PDU) in accordance with Project
Management Institute rules. Salary $41,704 - $75,000 Commensurate
with experience Shift Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Minimum
Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in project management, business,
information technology, computer science, or a related area or an
equivalent combination of education and experience from which
comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications At least four years work experience,
managing enterprise-level projects.Higher Education work
experience.Project Management Profession (PMP) credential. Other
