Job Description:

SUMMARYPlans and directs activities within the Quality department by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIncludes the following, but other duties might be assigned:

  • Ensure corporate Quality goals are achieved
  • Evaluate company quality system for cGMP and ISO compliance
  • Implement and maintain company training program on quality system standards such as cGMP, ISO, SQF, FMEA, SPC, etc.
  • ISO representative and SQF practitioner responsible for food packaging safety; which includes validation of the pre-requisite programs
  • Coordinate training for audit team, conduct internal audits of the quality system
  • Report supplier quality performance, customer complaints and internal quality results to management
  • Coordinate raw material inspection and supplier approval process
  • Disposition material on HOLD
  • Manage and Maintain Customer Complaint system, including assigning corrective and preventive actions, and conducts root cause / corrective action investigations
  • Teaches others the tools associated with root cause analysis as part of the investigation
  • Manages and maintains the Internal Corrective Action system, including assigning corrective and preventive actions and conducts root cause / corrective action investigations
  • Teach others tools associated with root cause analysis
  • Implement and maintain a preventive action system
  • Escort customers and regulatory inspectors during audits
  • Respond to surveys and inquiries about the company quality system
  • Co-Coordinate with corporate regulatory department to respond to customer communication regarding regulatory compliance
  • Act as Business Continuity Coordinator HAACP Manager
  • SQF practitioner
  • Co-Manage and maintain the Laboratory Equipment Maintenance and Calibration Program for entire site
  • Analyze laboratory data for trends and reports on a set frequency
  • Work in a safe manner in compliance with safety guidelines and standards; observe and make recommendations on all issues regarding safety, quality and production
  • Conduct and analyze special testing request for Technical and Product Managers
    QUALITY CONTROL
    • Ensure laboratory compliance with cGMP, ISO and SQF standards Maintain document control software
    • Coordinate equipment calibrations program
    • Review customer, product, and raw material specifications
    • Develop laboratory test plans in conjunction with Engineers
      MANAGERIAL
      • Ensure development of direct reports into motivated, empowered, and contributing members of the company
      • Establish training schedules for each direct report and ensure that training is completed
      • Train each direct report as a competent department back-up
      • Contribute to the leadership of the company by the achievement of departmental goals and through meaningful input into the company's future
        BUSINESS CONTINUITY COORDINATOR
        • Maintain Business Continuity Plans
        • Report to Group's BCM Program Manager and respective site manager on the state of the Business Continuity Plans as well as on the results of exercises and necessary updates
        • Report problems and emergencies to the Group's Business Continuity Program Manager and to the site
        • Support local Crisis Management Team in managing a crisis and returning business as normal
          SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
          • Directly supervise employees in the Quality Department
          • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
          • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
            EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
            • Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
