ENGINEERING SECTION MANAGER - The Engineering Section Manager is responsible for the general engineering functions of the company. -He/She will administer the implementation and coordination of the development activities and necessary manufacturing documentation for new programs. -This salaried position reports directly to the Manufacturing Department Manager. - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. Minimum three-five years experience managerial experience in production environment. Computer literacy with basic spreadsheet and database capability; some experience with CAD software helpful. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. - DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leads Section activities to achieve goals as assigned by Manufacturing Department Manager (MDM). Submit progress reports, including gap analysis, improvement plans and/or recovery plans and how it will be maintained to MDM on a regular basis. Assess the required daily workload and plan adequate resources for the Engineering Section. Understand current production capacity and participate in capacity improvement activities. Conduct internal audits and make improvements/corrections based on audit results. Develop OTSCON's Engineering Standard, review and revise as directed. Participate in Lean Manufacturing Plans/5S Control Plans/Visual Management Plans. Propose equipment procurement plans based on requirements and process layouts. Review and Approve Tooling Designs (Stamping/IM/Assembly). Design and coordinate fixture, tooling, and gage build Participate equipment procurement plans based on requirements and process layouts. Review and Approve Tooling Designs (Stamping/IM/Assembly) Design and coordinate fixture, tooling, and gage build Participate in annual Budget Planning for Engineering/Maintenance/Tool and Die departments APQP Team Member Ensure tooling fabrications are completed as scheduled. Lead equipment and tooling trial events. Assign Engineering Section tasks to ensure project completion as scheduled. Control and maintain OTSCON's tooling drawings Develop and maintain PM programs for all equipment/tooling. Lead continuous improvement activities based on customer request/internal and external performance results. Perform New Model process set-up activities. Assign tasks and supervisor Engineering Section personnel. Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals. Conform and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Conform and abide by company Quality, Safety and Environmental policies. Other duties as assigned. - - ABILITIES AND WORK CONDITIONS: The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
