We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our Columbia, SC office. We are looking for a motivated candidate with an interest in developing both field and analytical skills, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Plan and coordinate geotechnical/environmental field work
• Use GIS and GPS to aid in planning and executing geotechnical/environmental field work
• Environmental field sampling
• Log geotechnical/environmental test borings and investigations
• Prepare boring logs using gINT and or OpenGround Cloud software
• Assign, perform and review laboratory tests
• Develop/manage spreadsheets of analytical data
• Perform calculations to support designs
• Provide support on preparation of reports and proposals Required Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0-4 years of professional experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement
  • Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last several months away from the office
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders and work outside Desired Skills/Experience:
    • Prior internship or professional work in a related field (i.e. geotechnical engineering, construction, civil engineering, etc.)
    • CADD, MicroStation and/or GIS experience preferred
    • EIT certification preferred Other Requirements:
      • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
