Design Engineer Reporting manger: Lead of Design Engineering Location: Lugoff, SC Sterlite technology, North America A design Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and technical support to sales and customers. Design Engineers create product designs at request to sales departments and with R&D to create new designs for STL Telcom Products. Out goal is to ensure accurate creation of designs and drive toward cost reductions, production improvement and development initiatives. Principals Duties & Responsibilities. Responsible for adhering to all STL health, Safety, and environmental policies and regulations including our hazardous waste handling if designated and trained to do so. Create new product designs for FRQs and Orders using information from Technology transfer documents and cable design documents to create new cable parts correctly Provide feedback, support, and training as necessary to those submitting part number requests to correct errors or clarify requirements Ensure that the part numbers which are created are within the scope of the qualified products using the generator as the as the guide and contacting R&D product development group for clarification or confirmation as needed. Tracking and documenting handling of engineering changes, Participate in Business process reengineering activities aimed at improving team effectiveness and efficiency Strive toa achieve error free work and support teammates in error checking of new part numbers Suing in-house CableBuilder system to provide and maintain all system updates as necessary per product line Play a key role to implement the CablebBuilder as primary and only mean for design software Participate with the quality organization and sales & marketing on resolving any product quality issues that might arise Identity, evaluate and bring to the table cost saving and product improvement ideas. Follow through on selected cost saving projects to achieve the cost saving and remove design inconsistency after implementation Participate where necessary on internal audits and on audits by regulatory bodies or customers Interfaces with others in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and solutions such as samples, datasheets, quotes Maintain access to documentation on UL and EETL flame and safety products, ensure that design and material definition is in compliance to listing documents Knowledge/Skills/Ability Planning accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; sets objectives and goals; breaks down work into the manageable process steps; anticipates and adjust for problems and roadblocks; measure performance against goals; evaluate results. Priority setting spend his/her time and the time of others on what`s important; quickly zeros in on the critical grew ad puts the trial many aside; can quickly sense what will help or hinder accomplishing a foal; eliminates roadblocks; focus on completion of high priority items. Problem solving uses rigorous logic and methos to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; probes all fruitful sources for answers; anticipate and take preventative action to avoid problem; is excellent at analytical problem solving. Learning Able to research new complex topics and develop practical solutions which can be implemented, using a variety of resources both internal and external. Organizing Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently; arranges information and files in a useful manner, Excellent attention to detail Strong knowledge of Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, word) Function in a team environment Ability to work under minimal supervision Knowledge of CableBuilder and enhancing the transition program for the new plant Qualifications Able to develop and execute a plan as a team leader or team participant. Highly developed team skills, both as a tea member and leader Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities Good verbal and written communication skills Strong team player Demonstrated ability and initiative to drive change Strong quantitative and analytical skills Able to lean new ideas, concepts and skills quickly and effectively Education Master (MS) of Undergraduate (BS) degree in an appropriate field of STEM or Engineering Experience 5-7 years Engineering experience related to manufacturing preferred Work Environment/Physical demands Corrected vision to 20/20 being able to clearly see objects at long or short distances and be able to see detail in small objects and rad find prints Able to visually distinguish colors accurately
