Position Overview
The Manager Engineering/ Maintenance provides leadership and direction to the plant maintenance department responsible for repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment within the facility. Responsible for eliminating all causes of failure and ensuring full equipment life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel. Accountable for managing the maintenance and stores budgets. Integral part of plant leadership team; leading and/or providing direction to the Preventative Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance Design (PM & AMD) pillars.

Execute plant-specific vision and mission to assure continuous improvement and alignment with the corporate vision.
Ensure that all manufacturing and facility systems are properly resourced and that all resources are efficiently utilized.
Direct maintenance supervisors and hourly maintenance associates in their roles and responsibilities to meet plant objectives in environmental, safety, quality, cost, and customer service.
Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting, problem solving activities and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime.
Continuously apply sound mechanical and electrical solutions to resolve hindrances to plant efficiencies and to drive continuous improvement.
Provide leadership in developing, implementing and maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Manage maintenance department costs within budgetary guidelines and initiate cost savings measures.
Ensure that appropriate inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained.
Manage the buildings and grounds such that good manufacturing practices (GMP) are adhered to and a professional appearance is maintained.
Perform follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring downtime and/or inefficient operational issues.
Schedule mandatory inspections and coordinate certifications and appropriate authorities.
Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment.
Effectively communicate results and action plans to appropriate employees and managers.
Collaborates with Safety, Quality and Production department leads to plan and modify maintenance activities as necessary to support an efficient and effective operation.
Collaborate with human resources to insure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved.
Responsible for all capital projects including the Mill operation.
Execute, integrate and complete assigned projects by utilizing a partnership with safety, Operations and all Platform Groups. Execute project initiatives to ensure that all projects are completed to meet the business need
Responsible to ensure that all project planning, deliverables, reporting, and spending forecasts are managed accurately and that all projects are delivered within cost, schedule and success criteria
Responsible for supporting and promoting positive link between Engineering and Operations
Collaborate with finance to create and execute a maintenance and capital budget to insure that financial allocations and obligations are set, administered and met.
Effectively communicate results and action plans to appropriate employees and managers.
Support employee relations at the hourly level, encouraging involvement of all team members that demonstrates the value of their input and engagement in improving performance. Plan and direct work within the department; accountable for performance management of direct reports, recognition/discipline, providing feedback, addressing complaints and solving problems.
Promote a safe and positive work environment, enforcing standards for food safety and food quality reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of governing agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA and assuring employees are trained in these standards and comply with all requirements.
Ensure all plant maintenance operations are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Manufacturing or Operations Management or equivalent experience in a related field is required.
Minimum of 7 years' maintenance experience as a supervisor and/or manager in a manufacturing environment required (food industry preferred).
Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, PLC's and boilers required.
Ability to identify root cause, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret a variety of technical information and regulatory compliance guidelines and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Strong computer application skills, network and PC business application software
In addition to valuing ethics, personal integrity and trust; demonstrable key leadership competencies required ( i.e. Drive for Results, Managing Vision and Purpose, Decision Quality, Building Effective Teams, Action Oriented, Managerial Courage, Strategic Agility, Priority Setting).
Excellent communication and presentation skills required.
Working knowledge of food safety and food quality standards and regulations preferred. Experience with FDA and SQF a plus.
Experience in multiple pillars of TPM a plus (i.e. Leadership, Organization Capability, Focused Improvement, Progressive Maintenance, Autonomous Maintenance, Early Management, Supply Chain, Quality and Safety).
