Senior Cancer Biologist - ProfessorAll RanksTenured-Tenure TrackThe University of Missouri School of Medicine (MU SOM) is seeking an innovative and motivated Senior Cancer Biologist to further develop and foster our basic science cancer research program. We are seeking a candidate that possesses the initiative to lead our research program to the next level of excellence - achieving National Cancer Institute (NCI) cancer center designation.The successful candidate will possess a PhD and post-doctoral experience in areas focused on or related to cancer research. Priority consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated track record of obtaining extramural NIH/NCI funding and those with the drive to lead our cancer-focused basic science program into national prominence.Looking to the future, we have recently made a huge investments in research, particularly in the fields of cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, and neurosciences. For example, the is a $220 million, 265,000 square-foot research facility in which scientists and clinicians can collaborate with experts across various disciplines. The institute is equipped for every step of the translational research process and houses a MAGNETOM Terra 7 Tesla (7T) MRI scanner, PET/CT, Cryo-EM and high-resolution electron microscopy, Clinical Translational Science Unit, Integrated informatics and data analytics spaces, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) spaces for pilot-scale manufacturing, and clean rooms for tissue engineering and device fabrication.Key Responsibilities:

• Further develop/establish a cancer-focused basic science program
• Collaborate with other basic scientists within MU SOM, as well as at (SCC) to conduct joint projects, publications, and/or grant funding.Research Productivity Expectations:
  • Produce high impact publications
  • Secure additional NIH/NCI extramural grant funding
