Be the difference.Job SummaryUnder the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides excellent customer service while providing clerical and administrative services; monitoring, ordering, and stocking supplies; and maintaining a safe work environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Establishes and maintains excellent rapport with Registered Nurses, physicians, and with unit and hospital staff. Establishes and maintains excellent rapport and public relations with patients, families, and visitors.Accountabilities* Performs responsibilities accurately, timely, and safely for assigned patients/area.* Communicates and informs appropriate personnel, patients and family members of pertinent information in a timely manner.* Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation.* Utilizes equipment and supplies safely and appropriately; orders supplies as needed; labels specimens correctly.* Maintains the order of the patient record; enters patient care orders into the computer system, as necessary; thins and organizes the patient care record in accordance with the standards of care identified by the nursing unit; facilitates communication among patients, nursing, physicians, ancillary departments, and guests; orders and stores supplies for the nursing unit.* Performs EKGs.* Performs other duties as assigned.EducationHigh school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of a unit secretary course from accredited organization required. Successful completion of an EKG course for portable EKG preferred.ExperienceRequired Experience1 year Hospital clerical experience is required if the candidate does not meet all of the educational requirements.Computer experience is required.Preferred ExperienceEKG: 6 months EKG experience is preferred.
