www.sealedair.com .Reporting to the interim-Chief Financial Officer
and Chief Accounting Officer, the Global Controller is a critical
and highly visible role, leading a large team of accounting
professionals. The Global Controller will be responsible for
accounting, finance transformation, SEC reporting, SOX compliance,
Controls and the monthly close process. Outside of the finance
function, the Global Controller will partner closely with other
external stakeholders and the Audit Committee. The Global
Controller will work closely with the business to ensure the
accounting function supports and facilitates growth and works
collaboratively with the entire executive team to proactively plan
and support the strategic direction of the accounting team. The
Global Controller will continue to develop strong business
processes to drive efficient operations, reduce financial reporting
risk and perform analyses necessary for corporate decisions. S/he
will also have significant experience in establishing a strong
business understanding in the team, drive critical financial
decisions and generate timely financial and management reports.This
role will be located in Charlotte, NC.Specific responsibilities
include:
- Accounting, Financial Management, Compliance and
Administration:
- Lead accounting operations and procedures
- Interpretation of new pronouncements
- Oversight of US GAAP and other legal and regulatory
requirements
- Review and ensure application of appropriate controls, SOX
compliance and financial procedures
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management
reporting and the integrity and compliance of all financial and
regulatory reporting, controls, processes and systems
- Oversee the month-end close process, reviewing procedures to
eliminate inefficiencies
- Lead external audit processes and maintain effective
relationships with external auditors
- Periodic interaction with the Audit Committee
- Operational Excellence:
- Partner and work collaboratively as a trusted advisor with the
interim-CFO and other functions within Finance (including FP&A,
Treasury, Investor Relations, Commercial Finance and Tax) on
strategic initiatives
- Drive efficient and effective external audits and prepare all
materials for the Audit Committee
- Ensure that appropriate financial and compliance processes and
procedures are in place and effective
- Support M&A efforts with due diligence through integration;
collaborating closely with M&A, Treasury, and Legal teams to
support acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions
- Enhance and further develop a dynamic, high-performing team,
working cross-functionally with all other functionsWhat does the

- The ideal Global Controller candidate is an ambitious,
experienced and agile professional who thrives in a complex and
fast-paced environment. It is critical that this person has spent
time in a finance leadership role in a large, public organization.
- It is also crucial that this person is capable and willing to
roll up his/her sleeves when required.
- S/he must be an ambitious and adaptable individual -
comfortable with ambiguity and capable of leading transformational
change.
- Stylistically, the successful candidate must be a highly
process-oriented individual who can build and lead a best-in-class
accounting organization.
- This includes excellent leadership capabilities, proven
business partnering and outstanding communication skills with the
ability to effectively present to and engage with a wide range of
audiences both in and outside of finance. Moreover, s/he will be
experienced at working effectively across multiple levels of an
organization and building successful cross functional partnerships,
influencing, and leading through a dynamic environment.Specific
qualifications include:
- CPA required; undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance is
essential; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in senior finance roles within publicly
traded companies
- Proven success managing a large team in a multinational,
matrixed environment
- Expertise in U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance and SEC reporting
- Hands-on leadership skills with a pragmatic business-focused
approach to the delivery of service and projects alike, being
decisive and action-oriented, where necessary
- Experience working with external auditors, internal controls,
and compliance-related issues
- Experience with ERP system implementations and
optimization
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen and the ability to
transition between the strategic and the detailed
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills,
including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and
timely manner
- Proven experience at successfully developing and strengthening
management controls and operational processes
- Experience in assessing talent and building high performing
teams to meet the needs of the business
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams: achieving
organizational focus on key priorities, providing clear direction,
delegating, actively communicating and
